Dukono Volcano on Going Eruption Dec 05,2009

Dukono is located at the northernmost of the Halmahera island. It has a broad profile and is capped by many compound craters. Dukono is a very active volcano. Now in last update on Going eruption with ash rain, also some sands material eruption at December 05,2009

“Ternate (ANTARA News) – Mount Dukono in North Halmahera Regency (Halmahera utara), North Maluku eruption with  re-belching ash, following an increase in volcanic activity volcano 1500 meters highes.
“Ash from the eruption spread to dokuno Tobelo district. This happened since last weekend,” said one citizen Tobelo, Aswan when the call from Ternate, Wednesday.

Based on analysis of satellite imagery, the Darwin VAAC reported that an ash plume from Dukono drifted SE at an altitude of 3 km (10,000 ft) a.s.l. on 11 February.

Dukono is a complex volcano and one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia in historic time located at the northernmost of the Halmahera island. It has a broad profile and is capped by many compound craters. Dukono is a very active volcano. During the major eruption in 1550, a lava flow filled in the strait between Halmahera and the north flank cone of Mount Mamuya. It was an eruption of scale 3 on VEI. Death were reported by the figure is unknown. Smaller eruptions occurred in 1719, 1868, and 1901.[2] Since 1933, Dukono has been erupting continuously until the present

if you flight from Menado,  you can take the Flight by Lion Air or Batavia air or Merpati Nusantara to Ternate, then sail by very to Halmahera island, also prosible via Makassar to Ternate by Merpati Nusantara. From Ternate, take one of the regular speedboats to Sidangoli on Halmahera island. In Sidangoli you can switch straight to one of the public cars headed for Tobelo
