North Sumatra Jungle Trekking

Duration : 9 days
Grade : Challenging

Note :may vary according to weather conditions

Day 1
Early afternoon pick up from Medan and private transportation to hotel accommodation in Bukit Lawang. Orientation and dinner with head guide.

Day 2
Breakfast followed by short practice trek to orangutan feeding platform and the surrounding jungle area.

Day 3
Breakfast and set off on 6 day trekking adventure. Overnight camping and dinner.

Day 4
Continuing trek to next camp looking for signs of wild orangutan nests and other wildlife tracks. Instruction in making a jungle camp followed by late afternoon fishing by the river and instruction in preparing a jungle dinner.

Day 5
Day spent looking for signs or wildlife in the surrounding area, whilst also collecting jungle vegetables for dinner and useful jungle medical remedies. Instruction in how to prepare the jungle vegetables and demonstration in preparation of jungle medicine and its uses.

Day 6
Continue trekking and observing wildlife. Opportunity for guests to help with setting up the jungle camp and preparation of dinner.

Day 7
Further trekking and tracking of wildlife. Final night of camping in the jungle. Guests can help to set up camp and prepare jungle dinner. (not obligatory!)

Day 8
Trek to tubing pick up point for exhilarating river tubing back to Bukit Lawang and accommodation. Evening barbeque and party.

Day 9
Private transportation back to Medan .

Includes

- Private return transportation from Medan to Bukit Lawang and the starting point of the expedition.
- 3 nights hotel accommodation in Bukit Lawang before and after 6 day trek.
- Highly experienced and licensed guides.
- National Park permits.
- All food and water provided during trekking.

Important Note:
An average to high level of physical fitness is required for this expedition. Conditions can be hot and at times exhausting in a tropical, rain forest climate.
